Test-Retest reliability of the BOD POD: The effect of multiple assessments
A new validation study of the BOD POD has been published on the Perceptual & Motor Skills Journal confirming the test-retest reliability of the device.
This study was designed to assess the test-retest reliability of the Bod Pod. The study included 283 women ( M age = 41.0 yr., SD = 3.0). Each participant was tested at least twice in the Bod Pod.
The study concludes that "test-retest reliability of the Bod Pod in middle-aged women appears to be very good. The average difference between the first and second assessment of body fat percentage was virtually zero". However, the study adds that "although the test-retest reliability of the Bod Pod is very good, it can be improved and the absolute error can be decreased signifi - cantly by administering a third assessment and using the closest two values when the first two measurements differ by more than one percentage point".
