Turkey's first space travelers tested with COSMED K5
The COSMED K5 wearable metabolic system was used to evaluate the physiology of Turkey's first space travelers.
The two names who met all the selection criteria were chosen from a pool of 36,000 people.
They successfully overcame all the challenging tests they faced and will travel to the International Space Station by the end of the year.
The 44-year-old Turkish space traveler Alper Gezeravcı is an F-16 pilot; he will stay on the International Space Station for 14 days and he will conduct 13 different experiments.
His backup is Tuva Cihangir Atasever, 30, an aviation systems engineer at Turkish defence contractor Roketsan.
Now, the training processes continue before the space mission. As part of the training, they take practical and theoretical lessons to practice their vital activities while on the space station.
