COSMED K5 and the first marathon analyzed by artificial intelligence at Évry Paris-Saclay University
Discover how COSMED K5 wearable metabolic system provided useful information in the project "Expérience MISS Marathon Intelligences", the first marathon analyzed by artificial intelligence.
The study was presented by Veronique Billat and her team during the Conference "Human Body Data Capture in Action" at the Sport Science Festival organized by Évry Paris-Saclay University (France) from 5 to 16 October 2023.
Thanks to a field workshop in the Coquibus park, new technologies on board runners made it possible to measure all their energy responses (cardiorespiratory and muscular) and analyze them efficiently using artificial intelligence.
Through this experience, a marathon will be analyzed in order to restore during the course "its energy image", a true signature of its product effort seen from the inside and made visible thanks to the transformation of all its cardiac, respiratory and muscular signals, in an image that will be specific to it.
This image makes it possible to offer ultra-personalized precision training to runners, so that they progress and perform without getting injured or exhausted. Finally, this image will make it possible to advise a personalized racing strategy so that the runner achieves his best performance.
Veronique Billat is professor of physiology at the University of Évry-Val-d'Essonne, and is the founder and director of the laboratory of integrative biology of adaptations to exercise (IBSC).
