The Royal Alexandra Hospital is home to the first COSMED Q-NRG+ metabolic monitor in Canada
Published: 10 May 2021
Dr. Cathy Alberda, Clinical Nutrition Program Lead at Royal Alexandra Hospital, explains how the device helps clinicians tailor nutrition needs of both ventilated and non-ventilated patients by measuring oxygen and carbon dioxide levels in a patient’s breath to determine their Resting Energy Expenditure (REE).
Thanks to donors to the Royal Alexandra Hospital Foundation, COSMED Q-NRG+ was purchased during the pandemic to allow clinicians to optimize nutrition for all high-risk patients, including COVID-19 patients.
