About the speakers:
Dr Elisabeth De Waele is head of the 2021 newly created Department of Clinical Nutrition at Universitair Ziekenhuis Brussel which unites medical doctors, dietitians, pharmacists and nurses who take care of hospitalized and ambulatory patients challenged by nutritional and metabolic issues. She is Medical Director of the Intensive Care Department and Associate Professor at Vrije Universiteit Brussel and Erasmus Hogeschool Brussel teaching medical students, pharmacists and dietitians in training.
Dr Suzie Ferrie is the senior ICU dietitian at Sydney’s Royal Prince Alfred Hospital. In 2015 Suzie completed a PhD looking at methods of nutritional assessment and monitoring for the critically ill patient. Her research interests also include protein requirements in critical illness, and gut function during stress. Suzie is an honorary clinical affiliate lecturer at the University of Sydney and is involved in teaching of dietetics students, junior medical staff and critical care nurses.
Kate Lambell has over 15 years’ experience working as a clinical dietitian and has a special interest in critical care nutrition, nutrition support, and body composition analysis. Kate is a senior dietitian at The Alfred Hospital in Melbourne where she leads the ICU and Trauma nutrition team. Kate also works part-time at the Australian and New Zealand Intensive Care Research Centre, Monash University, assisting with research projects in the nutrition program. Kate is a PhD candidate at La Trobe University with a research focus on novel bedside techniques for skeletal muscle mass assessment in critical illness.
